What is Web3?
Web3 represents the next evolution of the internet, leveraging blockchain technology to create a more decentralized and secure online environment. It aims to promote interoperability through open and secure standards. Web3 builds on previous internet philosophies. The initial Web1 phase was focused on connectivity and read only publications, followed by the Web2 age of interactivity illustrated by social media. Web3 builds on these concepts with the purpose of transparency and ownership.
Applications of Blockchain
Blockchain technology extends way beyond cryptocurrencies. This technology can be utilized for identity management, Decentralized Physical Infrastructure (DePINs), and governance through Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs). By maintaining data provenance, blockchain can also help combat misinformation in media and other news sources.
